We are pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Gary Duhe as the new Head Coach of the Boys Basketball Program and Middle School P.E. Teacher. He comes to CP with fantastic experience, is State Certified, and has had a decorated 39-year coaching career. Coach Duhe has 779 career wins and is the only coach to take four schools - Redemptorist, Chapel Trafton, Plaquemine and Central - to the top 28 (LHSAA State Tournament) during his career.

Coach Duhe previously served as Executive Director of the Louisiana High School Coaches Association (LHSCA) and has held positions as teacher/coach/athletic director at Live Oak, St. Amant High, Central High, Plaquemine High, Bishop Sullivan, Trafton Academy, Redemptorist and our very own, Central Private. Duhe has served on the executive committee of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA). He was also founder and first president of the Louisiana High School Basketball Coaches Association and was the first inductee into its hall of fame.

In his new role as Head Coach of Boys Basketball, he plans to give this year’s team, especially the senior players, a basketball season they can be proud of. He intends to develop a solid basketball program to excite, encourage, and engage high school, middle school, and even elementary school students. Giving younger students a team to look up to and aspire to become a member of. He looks forward to being here to see his JV team graduate from high school and is open to talking to parents anytime. Coach Duhe plans to host basketball camps this summer. He welcomes and encourages past CP basketball players to get involved and to help in any way they can.
